Quote: "Just give her the herbs as they should be applied, Lamb's Ear for strength, the Borage Leaves for better milk a few days after she's had the pups, and Chamomile for if she gets stressed," Saffron instructed. "And be thankful that they were born after that dirtbag Steel is gone." she added.

Mystery, still in a bit of a panic, nodded to Saffron. He had a good memory. He would remember which plant was for what. He looked to Dixie, still looking quite scared, but smiled anyway.

And then there was a clatter at the opening of the den. A small black dog with pale blue eyes came flying in. "Are they here yet? Did you name them? Where are they? Can I see them? Is Dixie okay? What's going on?" Obviously, it was Light. Her tongue lolling out the side of her mouth, she panted to catch her breath, not only from running but from asking so many questions in succession.

Mantis peered his head in the door, though he politely waited outside. The wounded she-dog was back at Saffron's den resting, and so he had come out to relax when he saw Light speed by. "Light! Will you give them a rest?" he said grumpily. Then, his pale green gaze moved to Mystery and Dixie. "Everything okay?"

Dixie couldn't help but laugh at Light, then a small lurch in her stomach made her look around, her eyes widening nervously. "Um, maybe we should get to our den," she said to Mystery. She looked at Light at said, "No, they aren't here yet but they're coming!" she said, her voice taking a more serious tone as she did. Her gaze wandering, at last, to Mantis, she said, "Yes, everything's okay,"

((Oh, yikes, I thought they were in their den. ))

And there was the panic again. Struggling to control his thoughts and keep himself at ease, Mystery looked around quickly. "Oh, okay, um..!" Light quickly got out of the way and Mantis stepped back as well, allowing Mystery to see his way through the group of dogs. "Okay, this way," he said, shaking from the extent of his panic. He kept by Dixie's side and began to walk, ready to help if she had any problems getting to their den.

Dixie nodded and followed along, her steps careful and ginger. Another lurch ripped through her stomach and this time it was followed by a searing pain. Gritting her teeth, her pace quickened as she neared the den. "They're coming!" she gasped in a quiet voice as she practically leaped for the den, her eyes wide with fear and pain.

(Sorry that took so long; I was working on the front page of my new POULTRY SHOW!!!)

Taz crouched, pushing himself off the ground and into the pond. He plummeted towards the murky waters, his heart skipping a beat as the icy-cold water his his front paws, then spread to the rest of his body. Using his powerful legs to stay afloat, he paddled towards her, a wide grin spread across his muzzle.

Mystery followed her into the den, pacing around once inside without any idea of what to do. The medicine! He scattered the various plants across the floor, looking at each one as if he was trying to decipher something from a foreign language. "O-Okay, what do you need? Strength? Are you panicked? The... The last one is for after the pups are born, so..." He turned to face Dixie, watching her with absolute terror and wishing there was more that he could do.

Dixie gave him a look that was unreadable, expressionless, and said, "No, I'm fine... Just..." she gnashed her teeth as another searing hot pain tore through her body. She got up and paced the den, her body quivering with shivers despite the humidity in the den.

Ella smiled and kept saying to herself, "Head up, tail down, head up, tail down," as she dog-paddled.

Mystery shifted his weight from paw to paw anxiously. He didn't know what to do. He didn't know what to do! Clearing his throat awkwardly, he padded over, but stayed back as she paced back and forth. "Uh, there there," he said, trying to be comforting. Oh, he knew this was a bad idea!
