Paisley screamed in the den, her eyes huge as quarters. "MOMMY! DADDY!" She wailed.

Melanie pelted through the rain, rushing to her daughter's screams. When she burst into the den, a small she-dog was curled around her daughter, soothing her fears. "WHO ARE YOU?!" Melanie howled, rushing at the dog, and throwing her off. The she-dog hit the wall with a yelp, and scrambled her her feet. She ducked her head in submission; "I'm so sorry ma'm, I can't ignore a pup's cry, I was just passin' by, I'll leave." She said, her voice calm, and sure.

Rex lunged at her, teeth bared in a gaping snarl, threatening to bite her. "You're not going anywhere till you tell me who you are and where you came from!" he said in a low, enraged voice, his eyes cold and merciless.

Tears poured from Sylver's gray eyes, forced by the rushing wind.  She didn;t say a word, only glanced back at the dens, then followed Faith.

Faith led them to a gigantic fallen tree that was nearby, its massive root ball having torn a gaping opening into the ground that was sheltered by a small grove of trees. As Faith approached, she noticed with relief that the ground further under the roots of the fallen tree had been dug away to a decent-sized den. She paused at the opening and motioned for Taj and Sylver to enter first.

Taj ducked inside, his ears ringing as the noise of the storm was muffled by the den. It was dark, occasionally lit by lightning shooting through the sky outside, but mostly dry at least. He tossed the fish aside and sat with a thump, sighing with relief. "That was a close one, man," he muttered.

(Thanks!)

Jane reeled backwards, her soft eyes huge. "I'm so sorry!" She gasped, her paw twisted under her, injured by Melanie's frantic attack. "My name is Jane, and I'm a loner. I heard your daught- I mean this pups cries, and came to help!"

(Sorry, I've got to go. Bye)

Rex glared at her. "You're lying..." he growled, looking at his pups, unharmed. "Why. Are. You. HERE?" he snarled. "And this time I want the truth, before I tear out your throat!"

(NOOOOOOO!)

Rex barked at Ursa. "Get to the dens, now! No one in my pack is staying out in this downpour!"

As he spoke, the rain started. Not just a light drizzle to build up to the actual storm, no it was an all-out, buckets-o'-water, down-pour. Rex could feel the water begining to soak through his wirey, normally weather-resistant fur. Thunder rumbled in the slate colored clouds, and flashes of lighting, like dragon's fire, shot through the sky.

The thick, typically waterproof outer layer of her coat began to soak up some of the water being pelleted against her, and she tucked her head down low. "I'm fine," she shouted through bursts of thunder and wind. "Worry about everyone else, I'll do my job here."
