Layla tucked her tail, and burst into a frantic pace. Her eyes were huge. She just knew Jargo would kill her if he could.

Harli waddled to the edge of the den site, and watched her mate sprint away. Grumbling to herself, she plopped on the ground. Setting her head on her paws, she curled her lip.

Melanie trotted lightly to a large den; "What do you think kids?" She smiled. "Should this be the alpha den?" Smokey nodded, but Flag padded inside. "Momma, this is huge!" He squeaked. Paisley hopped in after him. "I like it momma!" She yipped.
Rex ran over the border and padded towards the den. "They know they can't cross another pack border without consequences." he snickered. And Rex was right.

Diablo screeched to a halt, fuming in anger. "You can't hide forever, Rex! I'll find you!" he barked angrily. Jargo slammed into Diablo. "You worthless maggot! I should kill you slowly and painfully; how dare you let them get away!!!!" he roared, snapping his jaws inches from Diablo's head.

"Oh, Mommy, it's so super pretty!!!" Daisy yipped. "Yeah, I like it." Snowy said quietly, after all her brothers and sisters had stopped talking.

Layla cowered, her tail tucked, and ducked behind Rex. Her golden eyes were huge. "Rex," She hissed angrily. "What on earth do you think you're doing?! You can't cross some pack's border!!"

Melanie smiled. "Alight then! You kiddos ready to get it ready?" Paisley yipped, and dashed outside, where a pile of freshly gathered moss lay.

Rex laughed. "Melanie said the same thing in different words; this is Willow Pack... me and Melanie's pack. You are welcome here. You are now in a place of comfort, where you can live for the rest of your life."

Daisy started yipping. "It's Daddy and Grandma, it's Daddy and Grandma, it's Daddy and GRANDMA!!!!" she howled.

Layla's eyes shifted to her grandpups, and a smile crept across her face. Flag, Paisley and the rest of the pups barreled towards her. "Hello my pups." Layla laughed, and was smothered in happy licks by Paisley. Smokey sat down infront of her, his tail wagging.

Rex smiled. He looked at Melanie, and realized that his fear of being killed by Jargo, and never seeing her again, was released from him.

Diablo shrunk into the ground, his eyes white around the edges. "I-I can get them back for you! I swear!" he said. "You have 10 sunrises to get them back or you will face punishment!" Jargo said, turning and storming away.

Melanie rushed to her mother, and nuzzled her happily. "Me and the pups made a den for you Momma." She smiled, looked at Rex, and beamed brighter. "Come'on grandma, we'll show it to you!" Paisley yipped, and sprinted off towards it. Layla looked at Rex and Melanie with tears in her eyes. Her slumped shoulders were now straight. Freed from the trapping alpha that she was once ruled by. "Thank you." She choked out, then as Flag nudged her towards the den, trotted lightly behind them.

Melanie beamed with pleasure. She licked Rex; "When did you find this place? I didn't know there was abandoned territory!"

Harli struggled to her feet, and waddled as fast as she could up to Jargo. "Where did they go? Did you find them? Did you kill them?" She asked.

Faith and Taj reached the border of Golden pack territory after a long few hours of walking. Pausing to look over his shoulder Taj sighed, his head tilting slightly as he lamented. Faith had never seen him like this. He really did miss that grumpy old dog, Swampson.

"We'll see him again, okay? We'll come visit once we've found home," Faith said quietly to Taj, nudging his shoulder. He looked toward her, a small smile growing on his maw, and nodded. And so the two set off again.

Some time later, after crossing territory of a pack that Faith had deemed hostile (it was Indigo pack's territory--somehow she just had a feeling), they passed another scent border that caused Faith to hesitate.

"This is strange... Just one dog, or maybe a small group..." she mumbled, sniffing about. "I don't know, I think it's a new pack." She looked up at Taj, who had raised a brow.

"Well, let's go see what's up with them, then," he said with a shrug, and in spite of Faith's warnings to wait for someone to come to them, he trotted on into the territory. Reluctantly, Faith followed.

"Nice place," Taj commented as he walked along. He glanced over his shoulder at Faith, who was beginning to loosen up as she admired the territory. "Wonder who's the lucky bro to claim it."

Faith, still feeling a bit nervous, jogged to catch up and take the lead. "I guess we'll find out."

And soon enough, the looked up to see a group of dogs; three adults and some pups. Faith froze. Taj ran into her, scrambling back to blink toward the strangers. Unsure of what to do, the two of them stood there, just staring.

Daisy boldly herded her grandmother along, yipping and nipping at Layla's heels; her Malinois genes were showing through quite well, now, in her behavior.

"I just ran out in blind anger and fear; fear for our pups and for my lovely new mate. I ran through the territories, and finally realized that there were no scent marks here; I found many a skeleton of what once were dogs, and they bore the scent of the now extinct Rose Pack." Rex explained.

"They hid themselves in a pack called Willow Pack; We found them, but I have lost them; I wish I killed them, but, as you know, it's impossible to get good help these days." Jargo muttered grumpily.

Rex leaped to his feet and raced forward, teeth bared. "Who are you?" he snarled. "Why are you here? Are you Jargoans?"

Taj whimpered a bit, backing up quickly, but Faith, tough as she was, stiffened up and stood her ground. "Don't insult us! I spit the name Jargoan!" she barked in reply, her fur bristling. "My name is Faith. This is my friend, Taj. We don't mean any harm," she explained, trying not to appear threatening, though she maintained her defensive stance in case this stranger decided to attack.
