"She sure did," Swampson replied, his voice rumbling. "And do you know what I think?" It almost sounded like a threat, the way he said it with one eye squinted in a sort of stink-eye stare.

Endigo grinned. "What?" he chuckled. He was amused at Swampson's grouchiness, but inside he was concerned what was possibly wrong with the pack's homeland?

Melanie walked in beside him. Smokey yipped, then blushed. He was happy to see her. Layla chuckled, then yawned. Melanie smiled. "Come'on kids," She said, and began herding them out. "Grandma needs a rest."

Cujo whimpered, then tried to slink away. "Yes Jargo, sir. I won't do it again sir, Jargo." He stuttered.

Daisy whined. "Aw, Mommy, I don't wanna go. Why do I have to?" Snowy trotted ahead of her. "Come on, whiny baby!" she teased.

"Make sure you do, or it'll be the death of you." Jargo threatened.
 
"I think..." Swampson growled, a stern look on his face. He took a deep breath, his frown growing and his brow raised so his face was twisted in some sort of grimace. "I think... it's a mighty fine place t'a live."

He sighed, sitting down with a thump as if he had run out of energy to stand. "Now, I ain't the strongest dog, an' my joints make it hard fer me t'a get around, so I couldn't do much 'a huntin' if I wanted to. But I know my way 'round the native plants and I can guarantee ya you won't regret havin' me 'round if'n one of yer dogs is hurt." He said it as if he was already part of the pack, but though he looked like he wanted to say more, he fell silent. Even still, he had a hopeful glint in his eyes as if waiting for Endigo to say he could stay.
 
((Oh, Taj is a pack member, no question. For Faith, I was wondering if she could be Beta female, but role play out her earning the rank? So, instead of everyone acknowledging her rank immediately, she kind of earns it?))

Flag trotted out, Paisley on his heels. Smokey slipped out of the den quietly, and waited for the others.

Cujo nodded, and tried again to slip away.

Endigo smiled, and inside, he sighed with relief. He rested his hips on the ground, and looked at Swampson. "Well, I'd be happy if you stayed. All Sonya's talked about lately is you, and she has missed you." he grinned. "Besides, we could use a good medical dog around."
