Mystery joined in her laugh, shaking his head at the pups' antics. How they had so much energy this early in the morning, he would never know. Stretching and letting out a yawn, he looked to Jiyaken. "You sure you can handle this set?" he asked in a joking tone.

Jiyaken, who had been blinking away any remaining drowsiness from his eyes, smiled. "O' course I can," he replied rather confidently, at last getting to his paws and padding over.

Minty, meanwhile, was doing some sort of bouncing dance that was likely supposed to be impressive to her 'foe', Jade. Stopping to crouch, she wagged her tail in the air and then pounced with a squeaky roar.

Feeling even more tired after this display, Mystery let out a light chuckle and sighed, looking to Dixie. "We should probably get going, then," he said. Suddenly he was having mixed feelings about going back to work. Sure, it was a break from the kids, but then... His green gaze moved to the pups almost sadly. They were growing so fast and he was going to miss days of it while out on sentry duty... Shaking his head, he threw that thought to the back of his mind and looked back to Dixie again, awaiting her response.

Jade used his paws to shove Minty away and ran behind Jiyaken, whom he had officially accepted as another "Unka". Feeling braver behind the big dog's legs, he yipped boldly at Minty.

Dixie chuckled, her voice slowly growing inaudible as she stopped laughing. Turning back to Mystery and giving him a quick nip on the ear, ahs nodded, her tail wagging ever so slightly, though her gaze was slightly sorrowed, too, as she realized that she would no longer spend her days with her precious babies, which were growing older each day.

Minty gasped. "No faiiir!" she whined, a little intimidated by the idea of taking on Jiyaken as well as Jade. Her eyes lit up a bit, though. If she teamed up with Jade and Raven, she figured the three of them had a shot at taking down the big gray dog. "C'mon, let's get 'im!" she yipped excitedly, flying at Jiyaken that time instead of her brother.

Jiyaken chuckled as Minty collided with one of his legs, which barely caused it to move. Her paws wrapped around his, she nipped playfully at his toes and made puppish growling sounds, her tail whirling through the air.

Mystery looked happily to Jiyaken as he and the pups played. "You three be good and listen to what Jiyaken says!" he said sternly. Then, his gaze moving lovingly to Dixie, he smiled. "Let's go," he said, leading the way out of the den just as Cerise began assigning each dog their duties for the day.

Jade briefly looked at Minty with a skeptical expression before grinning and joining in the fight moments after Raven, who had yet to accomplish reaching the big dog's ears. Jade clamped his jaws down on the dog's tail and together, the three pups were now wrestling with Jiyaken.

Dixie laughed once more, then set off out of the den, ready to do a day's work. She was just now realizing how much she anticipated being able to finally have a job to do. (Like a real Blue Heeler! XD)

Jiyaken was not much affected by the pups' ongoing attack, but with a shrug, he decided to humor them. Pretending to stumble backwards, he carefully picked a place to fall, making sure no pups were in the way as he did. Landing with a thump, he threw his paws into the air, which in turn caused Minty to land on his chest. "Aye, yeh go' me!" he cried, letting his tongue fall out of his mouth afterward.

Mystery led the way the short distance down the junk pile, joining the cue of waiting dogs as Cerise's voice met his ears. He looked up at her, noting that she had glanced fondly to the two of them as she spoke. At last, she turned fully to them, smiling warmly. "Welcome back to work. I want the two of you on Scarlet's morning patrol with Mantis and Russet," she said to them.

Mystery, a little disappointed that it wasn't the alone time with Dixie he had hoped for, nodded respectfully to the Alpha. He gave Dixie an encouraging smile, then headed toward where Scarlet waited with Russet and Mantis. "Nice to see you two," Scarlet greeted quietly, smiling a little shyly to the two of them. Mantis, sitting by his brother, didn't say anything. His eyes, a paler shade of green than Mystery's, were on the junk pile, focusing particularly on the den he shared with the she-dog he had rescued with Saffron's help.

((Sorry that took so long! I was watching something. ))

Raven continued to attack Jiyaken, though her attacks were slowly becoming more intense, something that should be discouraged or disciplined before they became very problematic. Jade let go and looked at Jiyaken with big, round eyes filled with worry. "Are you alwight, Unka Ji'ken?" he asked.

Dixie was surprised that she and Mystery weren't assigned to sentry duty, but she followed Mystery over to where Russet, Mantis, and Scarlet were standing. Russet greeted them warmly, elbowing Mantis to do the same. He rolled his eyes at his brooding brother as he did so, wondering why the dog was always grumpy, or so it seemed.

(That's alright!)

Jiyaken chuckled, looking to Jade with a warm look in his eyes. "O' course, lad. I'm a lot tougher than yeh migh' think," he replied. To prove this, he rolled to his paws, careful to let Minty slide to the floor gently before he did. As Raven continued her attacks, he pushed her back carefully with one paw, giving her a hard look. "Settle 'er down, child. Yeh ra'member what I tol' ya?" he said, gesturing to his half ear. His expression soon softened, though, and he looked down at the three pups with a smile. "How 'bout we go an' get breakf'st," he suggested, feeling quite hungry, himself.

Mantis blinked with surprise, raising a brow at Mystery and Dixie while muttering what sounded like, "Oh, yeah, hi." Now that his attention was with the group, he looked expectantly to Scarlet, waiting for her to give them a run-down of what they would be doing that morning.

Scarlet managed a smile, looking around at the dogs. She had gained a lot of confidence since being promoted to patrol leader, and Mantis could really see that now as he watched her, standing tall and proud before them. "We're going to the northern section of the territory this morning. There are many human dens there, and many humans keep dogs as pets, so keep on your toes. We'll be on patrol until noon, so it would be best if you all got something to eat on our way out, okay?"

Mystery and Mantis nodded in understanding. While Mantis got to his feet and headed off toward the food storage den, Mystery looked to Dixie. "Well, we can still have breakfast together, huh?" he said cheerfully.

Raven looked at her paws and mumbled, "Sorry," before walking after Jade, whom had scampered after his toy. She looked around and found her toy, she squeaked it a few times and laughed in delight as she did. "It squeaked!" she howled, squeaking it some more.

Russet kept his brownish gold eyes locked on Scarlet until she finished speaking, then he turned and trotted after Mantis. Dixie smiled and nodded. "Yeah, that would be nice," she replied happily. "Where do we eat?" she added, her gaze locked on Mystery's, still smiling.
