Rex stopped, and turned around. "You can't stay out here all alone, Melanie. Do you want to stay in my den tonight?" he asked.

"That wouldn't work if your enemy was bigger than you; what if your only alternative was to run, but your enemy was faster than you?" Endigo cackled.

Jargo trotted back to the dens with the rabbit.

Melanie looked up at him, "If you were caught with me in your den, Jargo will kill you." She whispered.

"Hmm," Buck snickered. "Who says if he's bigger than me, he's faster?" He snarled.

Harli was curled up, fast asleep, head under her paws.

Harli was curled up, fast asleep, head under her paws.

"Not if I kill that Demon Dog first." Rex muttered. "It's partly his fault that Banner's dead..."

"It's just a what-if scenario, you dumb fatso." Endigo snickered. He'd never enjoyed arguing so much.

"My love, look what I got for you..." Jargo said, laying the rabbit in front of her, and nuzzling her.

Rex nuzzled her, then recoiled, feeling ashamed. She wasn't his mate... he looked away. "Sorry." he muttered.

Endigo began advancing, slowly, walking towards Buck. "What are you, anyways?" he snarled. "Do you even have a soul?"

Jargo gasped in surprise. Then he smiled. "It's a sign: our love was meant to be."
