Surviving Minnesota!

I live in Southwest Virginia, I joined the thread because I have a few friends on here, and our Virginia thread just hasn't been very exciting. Talk like whether or not white chickens are pretty. One day, I'm gonna come up and meet you guys, I must meet Ralph......

I'm sure he'd happily show you around his duck pens.

Baby is sleeping - I'm gonna venture out and do some chicken chores while I can. Enjoy the beautiful day everyone!

Life on our chicken farm just got exciting.... my daughters new bBFF oops just started laying. They took a 2 week hiatus when being transfered from a bbreeder to us. She wants to hatch some and she wants chicks from ralphie... I guess this calls for barn remodeling. 3 or 4 weeks ago we sent our barred rock rooster down the road. He was overly active with the hens. Now the layers are just a mess. They are always into a squabble, 3 times it resulted in blood and Bluecote. So I think it is time to pay ralphie a is it for his ss rooster.

Wow, if a person doesn't check this site frequently they can have a lot of reading to catch up. I am old enough to recall many a cold winter and when warming to 10 above in January was t shirt weather.

The day I was married (June 10th) there was no visible open water in the West end of Lake Superior. The view from Skyline Parkway was of total white ice on the lake for miles. The Ice Age had officially ended in case you are wondering.

Jerry, it would be interesting for you to experience several months in Minnesota. Assuming I make it that long it would be interesting to meet you in person. Your project birds would be interesting to see, and just think of all the fresh Walleye you would get to experience. I suspect it may totally ruin the interest in those Southern fish for you?

Ralphie, I am glad to read that things are looking up for Judy. She must be doing much better, as I notice that you have resumed blaming her for problems that develop.

I have voted and the lady I spoke with at the polling location said the turn out has been exceptionally large. She said there had been so many Deplorables she is concerned that Minnesota may be changing?

Ed, I can second your statement on having Jerry's Chickens in Northern Minnesota vs. Illinois as a good thing. He gave my heart a pitter-pat yesterday when he mentioned there would be Ameraucanas of his lines in our neck of the woods. I think I have a few local chicken friends I can line up for sales to put in the saw-mill piggy bank.

I only know that everyone over 70 that finds out I have chickens says they had to take care of the chickens when they were kids and it will never happen AND (pause to take a deep breathe) and that they were leghorns because they lay so nice. Get the California Whites and you will get the nice eggs daily and they are a nice bird.

Is it the BR? Tom Hanks was overactive and a man-hater. So are Barred Rocks just kind of ornry birds? Gilda Radner is in full molt and I feel like teasing her because she is so snobby all the time. She is always complaining about something.
