At the breakfast today our 4H club made $1508.13 in freewill donations. That's without the food expenses subtracted but we spent less then 300 on food. We are donating some to a members relative who is going through cancer treatment

Excellent fundraiser! I am hoping to be at a point that I can get my kids back into 4-H in the next 2 years. Right now there are just too many other things going on. But that was a really good turn out for a fundraiser!

It was an ok turnout, we didn't get thr eord out soon enough. Lots of generous people though. I definently love 4H 2 years ago we didn't do much showing wise cause we were so busy.
Our group is finally in full swing since when we joined it was kind of dead and then us and a bunch of other families joined and brought it back. Now we are the best in the county when it comes to the achievement days. It took 8 years of lots of work though!

If you are going to perform a snow dance please do it only once. I do not like more snow just a few hours after I have shoveled 3 inches of wet heavy stuff !!!

Holm, you are learning a valuable life lesson. First things suck and then you die.

Ralphie, does not look good for JJ. Another life lesson. Try not to become too attached to livestock. It is ok to become attached to dogs, but not livestock or cats in my opinion. Cats have 9 lives anyway, unless there is a Fisher around. Then they will be on the dinner menu.

I have to disagree with this EJB and we seldom disagree, I got far more joy out of his companionship than the pain the last couple days have been. If I add up the plusses and the minuses of having a turkey for a pet, the plusses are a thousand to one against the minuses. We had a lot of good days together followed by a couple bad ones. That's life.

A guy on another thread when talking about animals as pets said (paraphrasing) Unless you have parrots, turtles and elephants for pets you have to know they will leave you.

I have had livestock for pets most of my life, it does not make it easier, but I know I will have more livestock for pets in the future. Of course at my age the chances of them out living me get greater each go around.

In theory I agree with you on cats, but in practice I end up getting attached to them too...

Matter of fact OC came up to me tonight and let me pick him up without having to bribe him with food.

Now I have to decide if I work on training JJ Jr to be a lapper or not. Sidekick just does not have the right personality, he is a half step above dinner, if that even. The only reason he is still alive is because he was JJ's buddy and friend.
