Surviving Minnesota!

I have a sign up list going to do a blizzard dance to hit the Vast Wastelands of the North....  I walked out of my pole barn to find SNOW everywhere!

It will all be gone by this weekend I am sure with the warmer temps I saw on the forecast earlier this week. AND you have sandy soil so it drains better. We have heavy black soil with clay under that. I hate spring melt! Too much mud.

Guess who passed their drivers test

Congrats! Woot woot!

Woohoo! Entered all of the cochins in a poultry show, and Gary got BV!! The 2 blacks were also judged but didn't amount to much as they weren't conditioned as well after being shipped and they are younger then the rest. Still waiting for the blue females to get judged and to see how far Gary goes

400

Congrats! Lovely.

Alright. Now. No more snow dancing. I was already in spring mode, planning to start building my 2 new raised gardens. We can't have this! (Stomping foot) I'm done with winter now. Snowy, slippery drive in to work today as well, ick.

Good morning all. The 4 week old Yokohama's are absolutely nuts, they started picking at each other to point of blood. So they were separated from my son's prized dominiques. Today, I get to bring my vehicle back to tenvorrde ford because they couldn't complete a brake job in one day. If I wouldn't be so busy at home and work I would invite my dad over and we would replace them like the good Ole days. To top it off I was driving home from tenvorrde when I noticed my hood was flopping...yes that's right it was flopping not latched all the way down.

I don't remember how old they were when I had to take to one that resides in the Guinea Gulag out of the cage with the other Yokies. I am thinking he was 6-8 weeks old when he was sentenced to the gulag. He has lived there a LOOOONG time.

Another reason to sign up for the Blizzard in the Vast Wastelands of the North Dance....

I know I can count on you for the blizzard dance, She deserves it after dumping this crap on us.

morning all

Morning, And I have a broodie! The Sister to the one uyou have, She must have laid all of 20 eggs in her entire life and then went broodie? WTHeck? EJB told me PC never go broodie and both of mine did last year and now these half breeds go broodie after a dozen or 2 eggs? They must think they are on of Layers Cochins...Stupid birds. She refuses to leave the nest box and I do not have time to mess with her. I will get to her this weekend.

I am running short on eggs! I had to buy 2 dozen eating eggs yesterday from Ivie,,(thanks much) for a regular egg customer, Judy refuses to just tell them we don't have them this time of year. We are still a 6 dozen short. I would rather hatch them then sell them. I think some of you need to get NPIP so we can trade hatching eggs, chicks and so on. I might not run out of eating eggs then. I have the slightly cracked eggs to eat, but Judy refuses to eat them. The cracks are so small you can only see them when you candle them.

I finished another cage yesterday I have my first hatch in it, all 8 birds. I will be moving my next oldest batch in next week I think. I moved all except 5-6 chicks outside the toe pole barn yesterday. I hope they made it ok. This weeks hatch is low on PC's and toads. BUT I think I have a turkey hatching my earliest one ever.

Give the broody a couple eggs to hatch, she'll be happy :)

I'm moving to Toronto until you get tired of dumping snow on the places up north.

I ordered 6 SS and 2 EE's to give my broody, hope it works or I'll be raising them myself until they're old enough to integrate.
