Surviving Minnesota!

BC if you won't be going to Orrock soon I could pick up your eggs from Ralphie and you can pick them up here? depends when the kindergarten wants them.. ?

Tfred, I store my eggs in a strofoam egg carton, they don’t dry out prematurely. Then if you have to resort to incubator, run the incubator in the location you intend to incubate for at least 24 hours. A small interior room works great. Do not allow direct sunlight or you could have a temp spike....killing all the embryos. I dip my eggs in 120 degree water with 1 part bleach to 20 parts water to sanitize before putting in incubator. Some people do not dip, and use the bloom that naturally occurs. I prefer to dip and gently scrape poo off. Make sure you have a separate thermometer/hygrometer and don’t rely solely on the incubators info.

The incubation part I'm not too worried about. I was hoping to avoid needing a brooder. Rely on mama.

I agree the broody momma is easiest. I have heard of people trying to promote broodiness by putting golf balls or fake eggs in the nest box.

I don’t have any experience with trying to get them to be broody, I usually have the reverse problem.
