Surviving Minnesota!

I have Barnvelders. Love 'em. This is Coco. She's trying to convince me she needs her head scratched. Double Laced Blue. She's 6 & still laying. Top hen in the coop. Spry as a pullet! Old fart....

Free. :D

I do not. The owner has had good luck with it.
Ya. . I'm in the same boat as you.

Em. I have not ever bought an incubator but I have heard for home hatching etc...Brinsea octagon (24 eggs) or for me (7 egg) is the way to go. Just my two cents and from reliable company (Kindergarten class has been turning out chicks like crazy on that Brinsea Octagon 24 egg incubator) .

Yeah Bobbi. I do feel bad on that fox. And all the men are going to laugh at me. Hahaha. But I really don't relish that beautiful animal is dead knowing also that the feed led to the mice and led to those trails to my coop. ugh. But it is a tale as old as time and now we deal with it. It's caught up to me here now. Luck has run out on not having an issue for 5 1/2 years.

I found hardware cloth purchases went without trepidation after our chicken loss at Christmas. Money flowed a lot easier. And that's not a usual thing here. :lau ah shoot :gig

These foxes we've got have been caught on eratic schedules. Kids home when they usually aren't has been our luck. Smart little foxies.
Brinsea s are so expensive tho:(

I don’t know what you guys mean by no impulse control....I only got 35 chickens when we planned on 20....and I haven’t gotten the geese yet but plan on them and turkeys now. :gig

On another note, how do you guys like ducks better than geese? I have heard that they are even worse than geese but lots of people have ducks and hate on geese.

ROFLMBO!!!

Something worse than a DUX!! You made a funny!!! Worse that a DUX!!!! Oh wow, that's a good one...

Goose s are scary.
Ducks are not. :lau
I have never owned a goose so I have no personal experience with domestic breeds. . but when the Canadian trespassers infiltrate the lake here in Missouri, they are aggressive and will bite you in the butt. And poo EVERYWHERE. They even chased my two labs off the lake! Nasty temperament those vwn goose s have!

Tame geese are scary, too. When I'd come visit my great auntie on the farm, she had a gander named Sarge. You couldn't leave the house without a broom because he'd attack anyone in the yard. Even the people who fed him! I was a city girl that married a farmer. I would love to have any animal on the farm except a goose. Never a goose.

WORSE than geese? No way. Nope. Ducks are little pudgy cuddlers that noodle in mud and make snurping noises when you give them their favourite food. They act like perpetual toddlers or puppies and find great joy in stuff like a new puddle, being let out on grass, or a rainstorm. They're just happy, that's all. One of their favourite activities is pulling on your pant legs or nibbling on a shiny bit on your watch. They're super inquisitive and love any new textures or shapes.

Now geese...
They are like puppies too. Only giant puppies. That bite. And hiss. And poop on your deck and don't even look cute to make up for it. Seriously, I have yet to know anyone in person that likes their geese. I have had, ahem, 'bad goose experiences' as a kid and I still don't like them now, despite being a fan of all other things webbed. They're perpetual teenagers, bad haircut and all.

Sorry, Banty, but I have to disagree. There is nothing puppy-like about a goose. Puppies are cute. And friendly. And cuddly. Geese are like... I don't even know what. But not puppies. Maybe the cranky old neighbor that's always yelling at kids walking by on the sidewalk or something. I do like the perpetual teenagers description.

Oh, they have plenty in common with puppies... this puppy!
