Surviving Minnesota!

I use a “juicer” . It chews up the seeds and skins and spits it out a different orifice than the juice.

I run the “waste” through the juicer twice. I get a little juice the second time, but it finely grinds the seeds and skin into a heavy paste.

I then add a little juice back into the waste and can a paste that we use.

No waste canning.
I love the idea of using the juicer. I’ve resisted getting one of those high-speed, higher-price blenders for many decades now although the hype does kind of work since I still believe my life to be incomplete without one. :lau

I did, however, cave and bought a masticating juicer. We were convinced it would help my husband but I’m pretty sure it was Dr. P, #2 son’s gift of bone marrow, and esp God who actually did that. The juicer is sitting in a cupboard taking up space. Now, if only I could find tomatoes worthy of eating, let alone preserving...

Gotta order that greenhouse kit... it’s just so expensive. But I can winter birds in it too, so that makes it worth it all, right?

You can probably build a higher quality greenhouse that more suits your needs from scratch instead of wasting money on a kit.

So I have been setting posts for some privacy fence near the chicken pens . Thought I would try the new foam post set . What a mess ! Two pouches separated by a seal . You roll to apply pressure to break the seal and mix the 2 . Side blew out of the pouch . So the not the right amount of ingredients . Failure . So 10 bucks wasted . Back to concrete post set at about 6 bucks a bag . So cheaper .

Now I will not be going up north in October . Helper started a new job and nothing is going on schedule or affordable . Foam insulation is too costly . Places that rent DIY equipment are not responding . So I will use a layer of foam sealant from Menard's . Just to seal cracks between boards . Then fiberglass . Plumber was high so I will do the pluming . Going to skip heat and air at this time . Window AC and space heater if needed . Not really into staying there in cold weather . Wife says h--- no . So I been watching drywall , pluming videos . Figuring materials list . Nothing better to do when it is 79 and humid .
