Surviving Minnesota!

We went out of town for less than 48 hours. I left my father-in-law in charge of our teenage chickens. In perfect grandpa fashion he claims they squabbled about lights out time so he let them have the lights on all night. ("But they squawked so loudly, I thought I was wrong by shutting off the light.") Came back on Sunday around noon.... to a bunch of sleepy teens.

But he did teach them to use the drinking cup system......My motto about marriage. Find a good Father in Law. You can learn to deal with the son after the marriage vows.

Here is another picture of the 3 Kings.....they may have been prompted to come near me for photos with treats of Oats.

How old are yours again? And cool feeder :)

They will be 9 weeks on Wednesday June 8. The rainbows are being raised with the layers even though they are being culled for meat birds. So the flock will decrease quickly in about 2 weeks or so.

Okay, I thought our little ones were around the same age. I'm still scratching my head over the sex of my SS, but I see your SS roo has a very prominent comb and waddles. My trio must be females. The base of their small combs are a wee bit pink and their waddles are small and slightly pink. I think BR roosters are beautiful.

Nice little flock you have there!

Lucky you....I bought a straight run of SS and I have 3 confirmed crowing roo's, and one questionable? My son is caring for and taming the BR for 4H. The 2 BR roosters loathe any and all attention. I am trying to convince him (9 years old) that it is not in your best interest to show a rooster when doing Showmanship but he may have me fooled with how tamed he has them.

OH NO!!! Did I sell you 3 bad ones????

A rooster might show well if he gets him to behave. I would have no trouble showing ED. But he is the perfect Rooster. I think King George would show well, but he can be moody with others. He loves me. now...

I get exactly what you mean. I'll have to get some picture of mine and we can compare. How old are yours again?

That roo might be a good one to start handling more. Name him Rupert.

It really is amazing. I had to weed around where we planted our raspberry and blueberry bushes this year. I swear the weeds around them grew 2 ft overnight. Bonus is I found a few older Oak and Maple seedlings on my weeding adventures. I'm gonna get those transplanted somewhere.

Mine are a couple days shy of 6 weeks ... ha ha Rupert it is!

Ralphie - when should I expect this clb to start laying and how old are the SS when they begin to lay. The clb are 17 weeks now and the SS are 14. Last year the ISA's were 16 weeks and began to lay. I wasn't expecting that.
