Surviving Minnesota!

BC, we are not worried about the pigeons stopping for the corn feed in Mitchell. They are primed for athletic competition and when they come out of the shipping baskets it is as if they were shot out of a canon. In addition due to the exotic feeds which they are accustomed to they turn their noses up at corn.

I found 4 puffballs tonight when I locked the chickens up. I fried them in butter with onion and salt. They were really good, way better than the ones I made with olive oil the other night!

I did pick a bad one though it was a mini stinkball. When I checked inside it was dark and I knew it was a bad one.

Tell us everything!! Where have you been, We missed you!
Life is what I have been up to.
gardening
haying
putting up fences for the never ending need for more pasture
kids
kids
kids
yard work
that about sums it up for my summer

On a good note DH FINALLY got called back to work after a year off. Calves are growing big, ducks and geese hatched out eggs, we got 2 more feeder pigs, we got a mutt dog (I am not impressed) We can't seem to keep the equipment running long enough to get the haying done so we are still fighting that battle. Looks like we may have to buy some to make it through the winter. Garden is in a sad state despite our efforts. We have managed to get some food put up but lost a bunch too. Hoping for a good turn out of tomatoes though. That about sums up the goings on around here. Tomorrow I will try to take newer pics for you all.

Missed you too!!

What a fine day! Rhetts and GFTG (oakridge)! Woot. Glad to hear all is well with our chicken friends.

Today delivered to the door was a box of two Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizzas. One Pepperoni. One Sausage. Wow Wow Wow! My DH's cousins sent a thank you for boat rides during our family reunion. Ummmm. I think we got the better end of the deal personally! LOL. Plus I got a night off of cooking and dreaming up what to cook.

Every body is sitting on the 2 x 4 roost tonight. I pulled adolescents out of nests and such at a time that the coop was dark. The big meanies could not see to bully. Enough of the pooping in the nest boxes! Dixie is broody so I just left her in her corner nest. I've learned long ago not to fight it. Just let her go through it and she'll be off just the same as me keeping her in a kennel. Broody Breaking with her does not work.

Ivie: Wouldn't that be something? Was he diagnosed under 25 years of age? Is he skinny? Does he have high morning sugars? Strong family history (genetically others close to him) with diabetes? If yes to all of those...I think he should get the test. They say it's rare....but what if he's one of these rare types? Totally worth it if you ask me. They say that the genetic testing isn't that expensive. But even so if he's got diabetes he's probably already met a yearly deductible...what have you. And be prepared to get 'blown off' by your regular endocrinologist. Just keep pursuing until somebody does the test.

Momof3plustwins. Wow on the chicken coop. Everything is nice...but there's something about those Quonset coops I just love. Oakridge has something similar. Love it.

So cool on the outside just to be filled with over priced tourist crap on the inside. I should make one out of pine needles and call it the "Pine Palace" Buy stuff the other tourist places can't get rid of and double the price so people can say they got it at the Pine Palace!!

I think we got to flatten a penny there. It probably cost us a dollar to do it.

How stupid. Man is the only animal that can be skinned more than once. I think I remember getting bored with the inside stuff. The coolest part of that place is the outside only. You are right on that. Looks like they do concerts and stuff there now.

Bruno's story was shared by many other NBC affiliates around the nation. Seattle, Orlando, Little Rock, Texas, Oklahoma...etc etc. We've been watching his social media blitz. Pretty proud....

Just a quick pic I wanted to share on the eve of Ukraine's 25th year of being a independent state.
My family moved to America about 120 years ago, but I still have family members there
