Now, I realize I'm hard on stuff. I even warned my DH of this prior to him marrying me. However, I think a wheel exploding off of a lawn mower, for no good reason, should be put on the good people at John Deere (and possibly Briggs and Straton) 'cause I'm not exactly sure how this can be blamed on me...

I've always said these companies should give me their products to quality check. If it can make it through me... they are golden, lol

If I do not permanently break something using it, I manage to send it to the junk yard after I try to fix the little thing that broke. So many things are built to not be fixed too. Or it is cheaper to buy a new one than have someone fix it.

Word at coffee this morning was 1 1/2 inches of rain overnight . Started about 5 PM . So no traps set and no flashlight patrol last night . Should clear off around 12 or 1 .

We only got about 2/10ths of an inch here. We saw lots of lightning to the north/northwest. The wind was really strong though...


I need a Swedish eagle trap, I saw two eagles riding the currents above the yard this morning.

Question: Does anyone else have problems with soft shell eggs? I have 1 or 2 brown eggs per week for the last 3 weeks coming in with soft shell or thin membrane only. My entire flock is comprised of pullets new to laying. Only been laying for 3 weeks. They have access to self feeding calcium in 2 areas of the coop and up until Sunday they were on feed from feed store. I followed directions on pullet pellets until 16 weeks then moved to layer mash at that time. Sunday we mixed our own feed (including calcium) per the concentrate instructions to a T. Please tell me this is most likely just a new pullet problem and they will get the kinks worked out???

P.S. If you are looking for a good Easter Egger layer with olive green eggs talk to Ralphie, the hen "Sweetie" has laid an egg 13 out of 14 days. I know it is her because I only have 1 green egg layer. Uniform constant medium sized green egg with the most docile temperment. I forgot what he crossed but she has a rose comb that I will be lovin this winter. - Never a soft egg yet.
