I've got some work to do this week to get the rest of the crap picked up around the farm before I'm ready for snow. This late warm weather has spoiled me

Us too. I was sick the last few days and just getting back at it. I did round up those excess birds yesterday, but I found 35 more for him today that I need to catch tomorrow.

DH got the straw over the garlic and watered that and the young trees. He did the last of the mowing and catching grass and leaves over the weekend. There are still a few engines that need winterizing and putting away. I have to clean chicken "dishes" and get them all put up for the season. I don't have any metal waterers that don't leak now, so those will be repurposed to grow succulents in and maybe some other flowers for flower beds and around the patio from now on. I am sure I will be a little behind in getting it all done. My first priority is catching the culls and penning them for pick-up, then I need to get all the rest of the cockerels and roosters under cover before it starts raining and snowing and getting down in the frostbite zone. If they get wet then it freezes, their combs are done for.

Cuz they are on strike! They are being spoiled little brats! Guess how many eggs I have gotten in the past 3 weeks! About 4-5!

If it weren't for pullets (mostly from bantams), I wouldn't have any eggs coming at all!!! My lights aren't turned up yet and most are blown out, maybe all now-I didn't see any light last night when it should have been on. That is one of the things I need to tend to this week, but that is an indoor thing, so it can wait.

Yesterday I got the plastic around the run. Did it all alone for the first time, it went pretty good just took longer working alone. I looked for the bucket heater for a long time, it wasn't where I would have put it so all I could think was that I brought it into the shop to clean it before I put it in the shed with the other chicken stuff and DH moved it... I was right! I found it in the way back of the pole building where it didn't belong. I was ready to quit looking and buy a new one. Today more odds and ends so now I am ready for the nasty weather to hit

My Buckeye and Legbar pullets aren't laying. I think they are broken lol! I don't think they are too fat.... But the Buckeyes are in heavy molt still... I am still trying to make up an excuse for the Legbars.... It's a good thing they're pretty!

I think I will put Junior in the Run with the hens during the weather episode as well. They may as well learn all about that run. It's not like there's nothing to do in there. I will probably get a bag of sunflower seeds and stir some in the leaves, grasses and straws I have in there. Windows washed on two sides of the house. Will do other side tomorrow if temps allow. I also cleaned up the coop bedding a bit pulling out larger lumps of poo. Sprinkled Coop Fresh (Citric Acid Crystals) And laid some compressed straw down that the chickens had pulled apart while on a field trip in the garage one day. Chicken Shenanigans! I need to pull the broody coop out of the run to make space for the birds to exercise this winter. And Tack down any plastic that has slipped its nails and lath. It's held pretty well. But just need to firm is up before winter winds.

I'm wishing I would have taken better advantage of the weekend 3 days ago! Oh well. I think this snow will hit the warm ground and it will be gone. That's my gut feeling. But as a procrastinator there will be no rest for the wicked now due to previous laziness!

Should also probably cover that pipe that runs from the septic tank to the drain field with a couple bales of hay. And get out my purty blue tarp that Ralphie loves so much in my yard.

We had dinner at in laws tonight. Was nice not to cook. She's an excellent cook. Beer batter Shrimp Brought from the docks of South Texas. Taters, Nummy bread and Salad. Pretty good. I'm full, full.

DD has started basketball practice. Getting in shape.
