Surviving Minnesota!

There are some weird egg membrane things that can happen and this appears to me that this is such a thing. I bet she was about crazy trying to get this moved on out. It may be a sign of Fallopian tube or reproductive issues or just a misfire in the egg production line if she's young.

Ta -da! Thanks for your advice @Cluckies !

Again - sorry for ruining anyone's breakfast/lunch/dinner.

That looks to me like an egg that was not formed or smashed before it was formed. the bottom looks like what would be shell.

If it sets in the air a bit did it get hard or brittle?

I have never seen that.......BUT having a picture of a chicken butt with something stuck in it, pop up while eating my chicken breast sandwich.....wellllllll

But it is my fault you warned me and I had to look....

I would have beaten you to it, had I not looked for all the pictures to tell my story with,,,,

Yeah - it was definitely weird. I have read other stories about how ppl have gone out and "noticed one of their hens was off" and I always thought that boy, they must realllllly spend a lot of time with their girls to notice a change. But. Lo and behold. I definitely noticed she was off. Yay me, chicken mom of the year?? She is young - she's either one of my June hatchlings or August hatchlings. She has an almost twin and I can't tell who was who in the order of first born. Yay me, no longer chicken mom of the year.

I really tried my hardest to figure out what was wrong; she's one of my for sure blue egg layers.

I'm sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sorry!!!! However can I make it up to you?

You might want to hold off worming for a few days too..

I am thinking worming can be a bit trying on them, and if she has a minor female problem you may not want to compound it.

I am just guessing, no real proof just a gut feeling...

And I will not post the puking kid the rest of the night......

She seems good - I have her in the (spare) bathroom in a box with some towels to hang out for the night. I am going to keep her in a quarantine pen for a bit (outside pen) - away from the pesky rooster for good amount of time for sure.
