Surviving Minnesota!

I am back,,

Holm I did not know I stole your picture sorry....I thought they were all mine..Old age hits again..

I have/had a generator it is in the shed next to the sawmill, behind the boat, Under the weights. And it does not run, I started to replace the carb on it last summer and never finished. I got busy with other things and kept pushing it back. I guess I will have to get it running this summer.

When we got home from Runnings the electricity was back on, but it has not been on for long the Incubators are around 90 degrees. The chicks in the basement were not happy chicks when we left.

They are much happier now. I will keep the new generator anyways, I could have used two tonight, I have a ton of unhappy birds out there too I am sure. When I get the new hatching room complete I want one generator for in there and another for the house and shops.

Cluckies, the tornado hit right on 15 and 4. The trees appear gone there, (that is the area your relatives use to own, If I recall correctly). My Grandpa and his brother had the other corner there. It looks pretty ugly, but it is dark.

As many times as I have seen it, I am amazed how light poles just explode and the cross just hangs in the air. It made toothpicks out of several poles.

I have only went to the basement in this house once before for a tornado or storm, The other time I was 16. It was nasty out.

Oh I don't mind at all! It was at your house when I was holding one of my LBs from you! I would not care if any of you guys used it for something cuz I know most of you and know you're not a bunch of crooked salesman!

I am glad to hear your babies are happy again!

You have fast power line workers! If you ever happen to drive up through the Bemidji area south and the east even in Grand Rapids I noticed trees looking the same I am sure the same storm last summer, but they are all curved over. Like a wilting stem. If you could figure out how to mill them you would not have to pressure process them for solid arches. Storms can certainly do amazing things even amongst the devastation.

BUT a TORNADO in MARCH?? Are we sure we are in Minnesota?

We had a large swath of trees take a hit at work. Like nearly 2000 trees (where we went mushroom hunting). This winter a logger came in and chipped it all. Oaks, maple. The hardwoods took a beating because they aren't as flexible to take 50 minutes of sustained winds last summer with full July Canopies. Older pines too....uprooted mostly. But the hardwoods twisted and popped and the wood is splintered and not worth the effort of saving for boards the forester said. Sad.

Glad you got home safely!! I bet the chicks and eggs were not happy.

Haven't been here in a while, but I thought I'd check up on ya. Glad to hear that it missed you!

I have considered a watermark too Holmes. BYC by their TOS gets to use our photos but I find people then feel the need to take 'BYC's' photos. I don't claim to making any living with my photos but I find it's good form to at least ask for use or give photo credits at the very least.

So anyways holm if you figure out watermarking let me know. @EMorical might be able to offer tips.

Tru dat.

I gather from that you raise purebreds?

I do mutts and purebred poultry. I started out with purebred ducks but moved to show quality poultry instead. Been blessed with some amazing birds this past year and made lots of dear friends I will never forget! :)

A photo of mine from my landscaping thread was on the carousel. I happily clicked on it thinking I'd see a thread of mine only to see another author with a similar line of gardening with chickens. I know the subject is highly popular- but the use of my photo although flattering would have been best served with the much better landscaping thread. Lol.
