Surviving Minnesota!

And the Eagle is hunting for groceries. Chix are locked down to their run no matter what. It would be difficult for that Eagle to swoop in to carry one of them off. It would have to stop to perch before it could 'hop' into the run - and it could not spread its wings to take off. They are a magnificent bird and in the sunshine their white head and breast shine. As long as the chix are safe I can enjoy Eagle watching.

Told DH to leave the chick door closed today! They wouldn't go out even if they could! Recess was inside due to the extremely blustery conditions. The eggs were are snug and warm this morning. I realized last night that my egg turner was not working! The wires had come out during cleaning I am sure so it was not getting any power or the information to start turning. Thankfully it was like that only for the first 24 hours. I don't think much harm could come from not turning during those first hours when it is just starting to think about growing a chick.

Youth wrestling dual tonight. I am ready to be done running concessions. Always remember SOMEONE has to get all that concession food to the school and ready before you buy it, that was me this year. I have done 5 concessions so far this week is #6 and #7. Thursday night I need everyone to pray and think positive thoughts because we will have about 200 wrestlers and those who come with them to feed all night! I have bought like 700 dollars worth of stuff. Ask Ralphie. He saw my van Sunday it was filled and I finished the shopping on Monday after unloading the van at the school. Somehow I managed to fit 5 kids and their stuff in too. Then 10 baby chicks and to carton of hatching eggs. It was interesting to say the least. There was a DO NOT OPEN THE BACK OF THE VAN rule in place all weekend!

Seniors run concessions here. They set up and take done, and an adult is in charge of making sure we have the stuff. The all day tournaments are the worst most of the seniors say.. track meets are probably the easiest because most of us aren't allowed to eat or if we are it has to be something the coach brought, or something you brought that the coach approves..

Went into the pole barn this morning and ran into a chipmunk . For a moment I thought it was a rat . Scared me and the chipmunk .

Well I did some yard work then against my better judgement I set up some of the low pressure water system . Then decided to mill the log I had loaded on the mill a few days ago . 8 foot . I got 12 1x12 a 2 x 12 and a couple of flitch boards ( live edge ) I can get something out of those . Maybe 1x6 or 1x4 .

Schoolhouse, which is basically a small shop, has 2 broken Windows from the wind. Shingles are coming off the barn and the camper was rocking. Some of our schools buses were being picked up and our car was also. The wind will also be here tomorrow...

The wind is blowing hard here but not that bad. Will school be canceled tomorrow if it's still bad?

Our power just came on about 20 min ago. It was out since 5pm. We were not home and had power in Oklee so did not know until we were done in Oklee. My heart is pretty sad because I have the eggs that I just set Sunday night. It said it was 76.6 in there when I got home. I threw some hunting hand warmers in the on top of the eggs and then the power came on 20 min after I thought of that. Took me a while to think of what to do. Now this happened with out last hatch at about day 14 when our DD stuck something in the outlet and tripped the power upstairs and I did not know about it until hours later. The Inncubator had gotten into the 70s then also. 9/11 hatched so there is some hope. I just am not sure when they have been set for less than 48 hours when the power went out. I certainly hope all is not lost. Give me and Ralphie some hope! I was setting TOAD eggs!

I should also say this is due to the storm with winds sustained at 30-35 and gust over 50 mph. It has been blowing like this since 3am and is supposed to go into tomorrow also. It is pretty nasty out. The county has issued a no travel advisory. I think this weeks weather constitutes Spring coming in "Like a Lion!" I sure hope we get a beautiful Fall in which winter does not come until December.
