Surviving Minnesota!

Here is one of the turkeys that hatched June 26-28. I think it's female because the little bump on her head is smaller. I have two with smaller bumps and one with a slightly bigger bump.

Who can tell me anything about this turkey? Does it have a breed name or color name? I'm a bad turkey mom, I know nothing about turkeys. I have managed to keep them alive though, so, there's that!

Whew,,,

Lots to read..

Cluckies I know, to think someone would actually come into my yard and steal chickens. I had 2 friends over this morning, farmers, they both looked around the entire pen and coop and said they cannot see anyway an animal took that many birds and did not leave a feather. I guess I am going to more cameras, aimed for humans and not critters...

That said it appears I lost a bird during the day yesterday, Lizzie was not around at bedtime. Unless she has went broody and is hiding on a nest, I am afraid she is gone....HOWEVER she does like to hatch babies.

I moved "Snitch" out of the pole barn and back to the coop. She is not a happy hen. She was quacking like crazy at me last night, and this morning she was very vocal about wanting out of her pen.

I also put a couple cockerels into cages for the shows. I really ended up with some nce cockerels from my Urch stock of last year. It is going to be hard to pick the best two.

I also have a PC rooster that needs to go into a cage. So far he is eluding capture! Stupid Bird!

My second batch of toads are laying eggs now, and I got my first full size egg from the first class of toads today...

I managed to get a toad into a bucket of syrup/brown sugar and salt brine for smoking on Saturday. This one is slightly smaller than the last one. 15 pounds before I dumped him into the brine....Any idea how long to smoke a 15 pound chicken at 180-200 degrees?

BTW with the help of Tramadol I hope to have a productive day...

MomofMillions, I agree with Holm Bronze, sex will not be known for 5 more months.

Ralphy it's just terrible what you're going through, especially in your physical state. I hope you get it sorted out soon.

Good Day all.

I heard from Jerry this Morning. He's been super busy.
All is well.
I will not be a chick sitter as the eggs were set on Monday. LOL. Misinterpretted what he said.

Have a retired couple here that we're good friends with. He got a small flock last year. And all the birds were picked off by BOPs. Or so he thought....
A hen trapsed in yesterday with a clutch of 4 adorable chicks. I went out to visit. She is the meanest dam broody I have ever seen. I guess the owner saw where she nested finally (in a garden) and found 9 other eggs. My guess is to get rid of the eggs now...? since she gave up the rest and left the nest right? I'm sure they are half developed or non starters that might go kaplooey or have chicks with special issues...? Anyways. Totally adorable, nonetheless. Love the broodies.

Ralphie, I am appalled. There are a lot of entitled people in the world. They are entitled to your stuff, my stuff and all sorts of stuff you would never imagine.

&*@#$%'ers.

Layers I love that you are getting your precious resource right now. Amen!
