Surviving Minnesota!

This mornings temp! So not ready for this!

I spent the day moving birds, picking breeders and losers.
I have a couple of maybes running around. Maybes might breed if they do not lose their heads somehow.

Hoover is a maybe. He was not happy being picked up and moved out of what he thought was his pen. The Buckeye Rooster needs a hen....He is a maybe, however, he appears to have a good chance of keeping his head. I do not trust Toads to live through the breeding season. However, Hoover has a distinct disadvantage to a long life. He appears to have juicy drumsticks and thighs....

I should give up on chanticlers. They look great as yearling but when they get older they just are lacking something.... but I think I know what they are lacking......But......morals and all get in the way.....I picked a cockerel as the chick Daddy.

Legbars look good. I picked the one eyed rooster to be the chickies daddy.....I have a good reserve or two there... I did not sort white legbars today. I am a pen short. I will make one in next few days.

Speckled Sussex were a challenge. I ended up picking the one Hoover's cruel past owner showed at the fair. I have another one of Cuddle's kids in reserve there. The reserve has slightly better color, less white...But his tail is too low. The body on the one I got from the people PETA complained about had a larger body and is more dual purpose I think.

I stayed out in the coop until dark. I like watching the jockeying for position on the new roosts. I wonder why one spot is better than another?

I have way too many roosters. Good thing I have that Meat grinder from Amazon. I also have too many turkeys, but I will wait until Easter to remove the excess brain cells from the neck and body on them.

That is a long ways out of the way for you to pick me up....and I am just a tad askeered to get in a van with you......:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau
Come on Ralphie his driving isn’t that bad I had him drive over 800 miles and no problems and there even was snow on the road. Maybe he just didn’t like that minivan he just needs a Ford Escape to drive and all will be fine.
