Surviving Minnesota!

My weather thing app says -16 but maybe it was that earlier. I semi trust these things.

14 inches of glorious white snow. And did the snowmobiles show up in force. Good for our little economy that’s for sure.

The wind and drifting on my deck is about two feet. Because that’s exactly where I don’t want it.

I have not went down to chickens yet. I am warm in my house but I need to go...

Warm is over rated....BTW could you check mine when you are out there?

Low here this morning of -6 and +10 at 2:25. We had 12+ inches of wet heavy snow that packed overnight and is quite difficult to move.
The flock may not free range til spring ? A large Branch of Scots Pine broke off with the heavy snow and wind and did a job when it landed on the wire cover of the chicken run. More work to be done.
BRING ON SPRING !! I am tired of winter already.

I’m ready for 70 and sunny!

This afternoon we moved 52 eggs into Hatcher, and set 215 eggs. If anyone has any idea how to stop the bantams from eating their eggs I’m all ears!
Boredom is often the problem on egg eaters . If you can not give them free range then you can do a severe beak trimming . Enough to make it bleed . Makes it sore so it hurts when they peck the shell . Have blood stop powder handy or be ready to cauterize to stop bleeding .

Another major snow storm is sweeping the area. This one is large enough to merit 3,231 warnings on my Iphone's weather app.

So far actual snow fall totals here in the Banana Zone average 0.00000001 inches.. I hope the rest of you are doing as well as we are here.

I will be heading out fishing with any luck today. After seeing how the girls are producing and discussing philosophy of Chicken coop management, and crime and punishment with Hoover.

I am not sure but think we have 4 inches of new snow. I went out at 330 because the dog needed to eat grass and there was 2 inches at that time. Havnt been to check the chickens yet.
