I have a 3week old buff orpington chick displaying these symptoms:

-Thick, sticky spit
-Mashed up feed and/or bedding stuck on the roof of her mouth
-Difficultly swallowing
-Mouth always slightly open
-Makes this weird clicking sound that's hard to describe. Definitely not a sound that it should be making

I think it might be gapeworm. I swabbed the back of her throat with a Qtip, and I didn't see any red Ys. I did see a bunch of pink-grey squiggly things though, as well as a bunch of feed/bedding, and more of that sticky spit.

I do have a feed store within driving distance of me (this is where I purchased this chick along with the rest), and I will call them tomorrow and explain the situation. I do not have access to a vet qualified for treating chickens.

What should I give the chick? Any medications recommended? And where would I locate the necessary medications?
I live in the Seattle, Washington area.

I separated the chick in question.

- sorry for the circumstances. Hopefully someone will chime in. I'm not certain what the problem is, but at 3 weeks of age it is highly unlikely that a chick could have a significant gapeworm problem. Good luck at resolving this.

Does she have grit? If she has ingested bedding material(shavings)she will not be able to digest this. Clean out what you can,and give her some grit. My chickens have never had gapeworm,so no experience,i'm sure someone on forum can help.

It's been super warm here, so I've been bringing her along with the rest of my chicks outside for a bit each day. During this, they eat lots of plants, bugs, and dirt/rocks. Could it have been something she ate out there?
I'll try to get some chick sized grit for their brooder though
