Yup, she's right. The only piece to add / clarify: I don't believe you get a notification that you are "banned" from the site, but you might get a notification that you got a PM with details on an infraction or warning which would cause a ban.
NOTE: We really REALLY don't like having to give warnings or infractions and especially don't like to ban members. Ask any moderator and they will agree. We'd be happy to go 6 months without having to do any kind of "moderation". The problem is that with typed text only communication there is a LOT of room for miscommunication and misunderstandings which often turn into problems that are then reported (hundreds of times a week).
Also, some people come from backgrounds where the way they talk with others may not be appropriate for our community. Some words, topics, and tonality may be fine with friends and family, but may not be ok here. We do all we can to let peeps know about the tone we strive to maintain on BYC. The rules spell out most things, and anything else is usually reported by other members and we then let the members know via PM and give them plenty of opportunity to learn, ask questions, and alter their style on BYC.
So, bottom line: We don't like having to moderate stuff, but we love the community and recognize it is just part of the job of keeping this place a great community and a wonderful place to be.
