Suspicious silkie "pullet"

Hello all, we recently purchased a partridge silkie pullet to add to our bantam flock and I'm starting to doubt whether "she" is not a he. The seller couldn't give an exact age, but I'd guess around 10-12 weeks. It's also not a very well bred silkie, as it has a straight comb as opposed to the typical walnut. Here are pictures of the bird in question:

I'm no expert but judging by my two silkies that are 15 weeks old and who I hatched, I'm thinking pullet. I've seen some people post pictures of silkies younger than mine that looked like they started to have comb and wattles. Your's look similar to mine.

However, if you really have to know, it's pretty cheap to run the DNA for one bird, $12-13. Not sure of shipping.

Based on coloration and comb growth, I vote pullet.

I'm mostly wondering due to the deep red on the wings and back. I usually see that as a male trait. Can females have it too? Also, I can't tell anything about wattle growth because this silkie is bearded. I can get better comb pics if necessary.
I just want to know because I don't want anyone to get too attached if it ends up being a roo, as we can't have roosters in my area

I dint know much about silkies, although I just ended up with a bantam so I'm trying to learn. I think the straight comb is maybe a recessive trait that got passed to your bird from somewhere?

Yeah I know the straight comb is recessive, which makes me wonder how you get a silkie with a straight comb as they should have both the rose and pea comb genes, lol. I'm mostly wondering about this silkie's gender. I want to know if the red on the wings and the possible streamers indicate it's a cockerel.

I wish I could help, lol. I was thrilled when I knew mine was a silkie at all. I've only had chickens for a month, and there is so much to learn!
