Sussex Eggs Size

We are looking to add some more chickens to our mixed flock. We really like our Australorps but want to try something different. The Speckled Sussex sounds good but I see conflicting information on their egg size. Some sites say they lay large eggs,some say medium.

How big are the Sussex eggs compared to Australorps, Orpingtons and Welsummers ?

I have a small mixed flock of all the same aged chickens and my sussex lays the smallest egg of all the girls. I wouldn't even call it a medium sized egg. It wobbles in the egg carton.

Really funny part is that she is top hen and the hen she picks on -- at the bottom of the "pecking order" -- lays my biggest and prettiest darkish brown egg. I keep whispering to Miss High and Mighty that she might want to check out the competition before she keeps on squawking.

My Speckled Sussex lays a good sized medium egg--not quite large but close. She does lay 5 to 6 a week though. I have 2 (one is not laying yet) and they both have very sweet and docile personalities and quite pretty too! Now our friendly Barred Rock has laid 6 nice large eggs almost every week since September!

I get my biggest eggs from my EEs and my one Red Sex-Link. I love my SS, but I was just a tad disappointed that their eggs were not as large as my 'mutt' birds' eggs. They are bigger than my Andalusians and my cochins.

They still taste great, though. lol

ETA: they are some nice big-bodied birds, I guess if I were inclined to eat them, I may well find myself impressed with the meat. Alas, I just can not eat something I hatched myself and named. Mildred, Mable and Broken Toe are therefore quite safe. Crispin, on the other hand - he was mean and the neighbors enjoyed him.
