swallowed string

Chick (4 weeks old) swallowed some string--Buff Orpington I think. I tried pulling it out but it wouldn't budge so I cut the string short and she swallowed it. The chick is acting ok but I'm not sure if there is something else I can do.

Please help. Thank you.

I have had the same thing happen a couple of times and when the string wouldn't come out easily like you I just cut the string close. Both birds came through it with out any ill affects.

nothing you can do right now...offer bread soaked with EVOO and hope it comes out the other end would be my guess...I have heard of them eating a lot worse

It'll probably pass. Mine have eaten things from styrofoam to screws from the box I was building a coop with. All are fine.

Thank you all. We're new to chicken rearing and are having such a great time--except for this little mishap. We're going to give the chick some bread and evoo and hope for the best.
