Swamp Farm Startup 0_o

I have a rooster with deformed feet (extra tows) is this a inbred thing?
Should i not have him cross with my flock?
If his breed is not supposed to have extra toes I would not breed him, as that can pass down.

If you're just making barnyard mutts instead of purebreds, doesn't really matter if they have 4 or 5 toes as long as there's no difficulty walking or anything.

He is about the weirdest rooster i have ever met... not that i have met many.
A silkie, at LEAST 2 extra tows per foot, sits on nests, snuggles chicks under him, wanders at night and the ugliest waddle ever.

He is perfect 0_o

I really liked that chick too.

I have a little window roost the two chicks sleep on at night.

The hawk did not get out with the chick they dropped it on the edge of the property and i went to find it... i did ... 0_o,

so it seems that within reason the max angle of attack during impact for a hawk will be about 45 degrees.

I have a roughly 16 ft wide area and it's fences are about 4ft tall so max coverage for a "safe" spot will be 4ft from fence line and im not about to do a 16ft fence or build a roof... sooo.

I will come in from the fence line about 4ft and use a 6ft poultry post to hold a 4ft tall section of fence up in the air straight up and then come back another 6ft and do one more.. crossing the run diagonally this would leave 16 x 16 ft area where the hawks would not be able to get a direct line to the ground.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

is it gonna help? is it stupid?

im obviously pretty busy making ALL the mistakes.... but i should take a moment to introduce myself..

Im a filtration tech by trade but i have retired.. i have recently set these coops up with scraps i had around (because i like using what i have not buying premade) i set up a network and cams to monitor them and i built a battery bank to run the farm and a solar array to charge it up... yes the coops are solar powered....individually...on separate systems... soon they will be automated food/Water/windows and doors/ predator alarms (Including recognition for type of animal) and i would like to tinker with every aspect of chicken farming and design automated diy options.

Ease and efficiency under maximum comfort for the birds are what im aiming for

I will be using arduinos for these projects and will be happy to talk about it. (Im learning too and a fellow nerd is always good to meet.)

That being said i am hoping for people to get to know what im up to so they can start offering advice about the coops and asking questions.
