I thought I'd sneak another egg in with the rest of my batch, taking it straight from the coop into the incubator. My mistake was forgetting it is 20f today and 99.5 in the incubator. So 15 minutes later I pull the egg out because it started to sweat and realize my mess up. Ah well.
I was originally going to ask what you guys thought I could still do with it since it was still cool to the touch, but now it's a bit too late as the dog stole it off the counter.

I might still sneak in a couple of eggs tonight/tomorrow, but I'll let them sit at room temp for a few hours at least.

I would not recommend that if you plan to hatch in that same incubator. If you are using a different incubator as a hatcher, that's different.

You don't want a staggered hatch. That's where some eggs are set so far apart that the first ones hatch long before the others. How do you handle turning or humidity? The first chicks that hatch can poop and leave a hatching mess that can really start to stink in two or three days in that warm humid environment, even if they don't foul the unhatched eggs. Trust me, you do not want that stink.

There are techniques to handle this, a common one is to start eggs in the incubator at one week intervals. When you go into lockdown use a second incubator as a hatcher. With that one week interval you can complete the hatch and clean the hatcher between batches. But if you only have one incubator that can be really stressful.

I was thinking that if it was less than a 24 hr difference they'd be fine. But I doubt I'm going to get any from the breeds I want tomorrow morning anyway. Maybe next time.
