Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Yes, they can be crosses. I got eggs for the first clutch from two different farmers who are neighbors. Once one of them saw the Turken with flowering, she told me their free ranging chickens must be visiting each other (she has turkens). The younger chicks came from three dozen the SFH farmer sent over and she marked them Swedes, Crested Swedes, and mixed breed moms w/ swede roo. I have no idea which hatched, especially since they all roll around at the end, so appreciate your insights. Thanks for taking the time! I've been wondering what people might know about them. All I know is 1. they eat a lot and 2. they are beautiful. :)
Pheew! We've had people in the past who had no idea they had crosses and it just totally sucks to tell those folks and give them such a letdown! (AND I'm glad my eyes are still working and passed the "purebred" test after working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for the past month on illustrations of other breeds - LOL!)
So in that case, and since you know what you have, your chicks are adorable!

Can someone tell me or show me a snoeleopard SFH? I have no clue what color that is
Basically, the Snoleopard coloration is caused by a gene that mutes the red/orange tones to a yellow/gold.

See how the red tones have been muted down?

Update on my German-imported SFH hatching-eggs. 6 in lock-down!
This is my first time using the dry-incubation method, so I´m curious how it will work out. Humidity is up now to about 65%, has otherwise been 29% without adding any water.
At this point I would be really happy if I just got 2 girls. Right now I´ve got 2 boys in a run with 7 girls. They used to get along really well, but since the girls started laying about 6 weeks ago, one of the roos has definetely become the more dominant one, and the other has to spend his time on the outskirts of the flock (funny how everything changes when sex comes into the picture).
I really like this second boy, so I´m planning on putting him in a separate coop and run with any German girls I might get...

I am curious to see how it will be for my SFH flock as well. I plan on keeping two roos, and am trying to build a small army of females for them to both get enough action hopefully. I am trying to live up to the 10 girls per rooster rule, and hopefully that will keep everyone happy. I can see though, that I may want to ensure certain crossings with certain girls, and may have to split them up I guess. I have to pick experienced peeps brains when I cross that bridge which won't be for quite a bit longer, although, I can see the two roos starting to pay far more attention to all the new little growouts that are getting bigger. Even the one pullet who is the same age as they are isn't anywhere near POL, so I will be learning as I go along.

Good Luck with your hatch! Exciting time... I love lockdown!
