Pheew! We've had people in the past who had no idea they had crosses and it just totally sucks to tell those folks and give them such a letdown! (AND I'm glad my eyes are still working and passed the "purebred" test after working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for the past month on illustrations of other breeds - LOL!)Yes, they can be crosses. I got eggs for the first clutch from two different farmers who are neighbors. Once one of them saw the Turken with flowering, she told me their free ranging chickens must be visiting each other (she has turkens). The younger chicks came from three dozen the SFH farmer sent over and she marked them Swedes, Crested Swedes, and mixed breed moms w/ swede roo. I have no idea which hatched, especially since they all roll around at the end, so appreciate your insights. Thanks for taking the time! I've been wondering what people might know about them. All I know is 1. they eat a lot and 2. they are beautiful.![]()
Basically, the Snoleopard coloration is caused by a gene that mutes the red/orange tones to a yellow/gold.Can someone tell me or show me a snoeleopard SFH? I have no clue what color that is
Mace is THE MAN! He is so very handsome. What presence!
You're quite welcome!Oh wow snow leopards are gorgeous! Thank you everyone for the pictures and explanation
He's sexy and he knows it! (Though he looks like a dork right now without his sickle feathers... molting is a B***H. LOL!)Mace is THE MAN! He is so very handsome. What presence!
Update on my German-imported SFH hatching-eggs. 6 in lock-down!
This is my first time using the dry-incubation method, so I´m curious how it will work out. Humidity is up now to about 65%, has otherwise been 29% without adding any water.
At this point I would be really happy if I just got 2 girls. Right now I´ve got 2 boys in a run with 7 girls. They used to get along really well, but since the girls started laying about 6 weeks ago, one of the roos has definetely become the more dominant one, and the other has to spend his time on the outskirts of the flock (funny how everything changes when sex comes into the picture).
I really like this second boy, so I´m planning on putting him in a separate coop and run with any German girls I might get...
Wishing you a good hatch, too. Here´s to lots of Girls for both of us- Cheers!Day 7, just candled for the first time and I have 7 healthy swimmers! Yippie! Female juju.. female juju.....ohhhmmmmmmmmm
