I have been raising chickens for quite some time, but this is my first go at Isbars. Out of about 6 to 8 chicks, I've had one survive. The one that's failing now is about 12 weeks old. I've checked her skin and other symptoms and have ruled out Merek's. She's progressively grown weaker, and I'm expecting her to be gone each time I check on her (she's in a quarantine pen). Has anyone else had high mortality rates with this breed? Is there anything special I need to know about them? I've never had this problem before.

I also raise Silverudd's Blue, and it's a wonderful breed. Unfortunately, it seems there were some health issues due to inbreeding, particularly with Greenfire Farm's first import - the second import was intended to alleviate the shallow gene pool problem. Do you know which GFF import your birds are from?

I don't know which one, but they are from Greenfire. Like I said in my post, she's only about 10-12 weeks old. I ordered 4 from them and she's the only one left but won't be with me much longer. The batch before this one was from Feather Lover Farms who also purchased their stock from there, and only one out of 4 made it as well. The one from Feather Lover Farms is about 14 weeks and is doing very well
