Sweet but rough rooster

This could be an option if you are comfortable eating your roosters, then you know they won't get used for cock fighting, or eaten anyways, and had a good life. Personally this is not an option for me because I get too attached, and based on the way you described them and are asking whether or not you need to rehome them instead of just going for it, it seems like you wouldn't be comfortable with it either. However if you ARE comfortable and I am very wrong, then you would know they had an amazing life and were killed humanely.
He's 26 weeks I'm not comfortable with that. They are pets only way I could see putting one down is if it was sick and suffering. He is gorgeous and I would hope he could find a good home for breeding purposes if not just because he's a sweet heart. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about rehoming him.

I'm the same way. My birds are pets I cried for days non stop when I had to rehome some roosters because I got 7/8 roosters with my original batch of chicks. Luckily they were pure breed ameraucanas so I could find them breeding homes. I wish you the best of luck on your search! Unfortunatly it is a hard place to be in. Also unless you realy know a person it's hard to know whether or not they will get eaten.

if he’s 12-16 weeks old...better chicken than you might buy at the store to eat and you know where it came from...assuming you feed him decent food...
in my neck of the woods...if you “re-home“ a free chicken, rabbit, goat, etc...it’s probably not going to be a pet.

just make sure you find a home that wants a pet rooster and not a meat bird. I would gladly accept another pet rooster.
