Should I be worried that my sweet girl won’t put herself to bed at night? She is in an I closed aviary with her little house but sleeps on the ground just outside her door.

You have to train her to go to her correct place. After a few days of putting them up in the evening they usually get the point. Chickens aren't the smartest and certainly not mind readers to know where we want them to sleep. Silkies in particular are a bit dee ta dee.

Is she an only bird or does she have friends that go in? Many birds won't enter a dark coop in the evening (some use a light JUST for a training period). But once you teach them your expectation, they will make sure to scoot in before it gets uncomfortably dark for them. :)

Thank you for responding. She has a little silkie roo that huddles up with her on the ground at night. I’ll start picking them up and putting them in their little house, but if it’s hot I keep the door open for air. I hope they stay in.
