I want to put in a sweet pea trellis. I let my chickens out and am wondering if they will bother the plants. Any experience with this?

I think the peas are safe for chickens, but not safe from chickens. My scratch has peas.IIRC, sweet peas are toxic (someone correct me if I don't remember correctly).
