sweetgrass TURKEYS

I forgot to mention that I scatter grass clippings on the starter feed and put a shovel full of sod in the brooder room for them. One other thing they fly really well when they decide to.

THere are two threads that are full of information. THe turkeys for 2013 is a year long informational. And TUrkeys for 2014 is well underway. We share, compare notes, that sort of thing.

As for my turkeys, all my stock tend to be friendly and easy compared to the descriptionsof some other lines.

Turkey poults learn differently than some other fowl-- I don't consider them stupid or dumb. More of a watcher than a grabber. I have one customer buy a BR tom this week to go with the 2 poults that she bought 2 years ago-- these girls like to sit on her lap. IMO this attests to her efforts to befriend the young poults, as mine don't do that.

My SG as slightly smaller than my BR and the are direct from POrters.

Like any creature, sometimes trying them is the only way to find out if they are a good fit. You can always eat them.

I have been toying with the idea of turkeys and I really do like the look of these! I don't think I will be getting any this year but possibly next year. These and the lilacs are by far my favorite colors that I've seen.

I just got a batch of started Sweetgrass turkey poults a few months old, and I love them! The picture under my name is of a tom that is currently with me.

I've never heard of a sweetgrass turkey. What does it look like??
they are probably the prettiest and one of the rarest turkeys-
