Hi

I noticed last night my 20 week old has swelling around one eye with white foam and bubbles. I was reading the other posts but I didn’t come across one with the foam/bubbles. I looked for mites and didn’t see anything. She is acting fine doing normal chicken things. She has been the only one who is scrappy with the other hens. No other hens with the symptom. I see people putting Terramycin Antibiotic as a solution on some. Let me know what you think?

Bubbles in the eye can be a sign of a respiratory infection. The other eye swelling infection I've seen on BYC is coryza.

Try doing a search for both coryza and respiratory infection. I'm not good enough at the treatments and symptoms to give advice, but if you get stuck let me know and I'll try to help or tag some others who might be able to help!

Mycoplasma gallisepticum is a common respiratory disease that has bubbles in the eye and facial swelling. Probably the most common cause. Symptoms can be treated with Tylosin (https://jedds.com/products/tylosin-powder?_pos=1&_sid=629471441&_ss=r), it isn't cured, it's chronic and the birds are carriers. If vet care is an option they can test to identify if that's what it is, often just a throat swab. If you think it is only an injury, they terramycin can be used to treat that. I would lean towards the respiratory illness.

I have been using terramycin which made a big difference so far. No more foam or bubbles. Thanks for all the info if this doesn’t work then I have another avenue!
