Agree, if this were my dog, we'd be making an emergency run to the vet, also ask if giving the dog benedryl would hurt him to give before you leave, incase he's having a reaction to a bite or sorts.
an absess can get infected, bad, really quickly!
Do you have a cat? Could the cat have bitten him, if so you need to get him in asap so he doesn't get a blood infection!!
