Switch from chick starter when?

The lable on my bag of 24% protien chick starter says to feed it for 8-10 weeks before switching to the 20% chick grower. My CX chicks are almost 5 weeks old and should be processed before they hit 10 weeks...probably 8. When do I switch feed?

I don't switch. Why take the chance of upsetting their digestive system for a week or two?

I have not switched from chick starter on my 6 week birds. They are doing as well or better than last years. Could be the batch, could be the starter, could be the cool weather, but they are active and well.

I switch mine at 21 - 23 days and start processing the biggest birds at about day 35 -36.

Mix the feed as you make the change and you'll not likely see any problems.
