Switched to Horizontal Nipples

I bought some from Rent a coop. I had one leak out of the package at the O-ring. I unscrewed the nipple and cleaned around the O-ring , it hasn't leaked again. They can get small pieces of dirt stuck and cause it to leak. Also the O-ring itself could have a slight nick or tare. I haven't had any leak at the threads, I use an 11/32 drill bit.

Sometimes you have to look closely to see where water is leaking from.
I fill vessel then totally dry the outside of it off,
set it up on thin pieces of wood on top of a dry surface,
usually the washing machine...then watch for drips, flashlight can help.
if it's leaking bad you'll see it pretty quick.
Are you using smaller than the usually recommended 3/8" holes?
I did just that (not on washing machine) dried everything nicely, it was very slowly filling the tray and dripping. The Rent a coop ones call for 5/16" but recommend a 11/32" bit which I used. The Lovatic ones call for 5/16". I had 2 thread areas that seeped and needed some help. I used the heavy duty Teflon tape (blue) and took care of those easily.

Have you been able to compare to others? Is it just me or is the spring weaker? I think the birds like them better alittle easier to engage than Lovatic. Could all just be in my head.lol

I've used chickennipples.com from amazon also. They were the first ones I used and have not had a problem in 2 years with them. I never really compared the spring tension and my chickens haven't let me know which ones they like better :gig
