Switching eggs for chicks

I am hoping that tonight i will be switching chicks for the eggs. My question is can the hen have medicated food while they are separate or is it best to get chick starter and also can i mix wheat, oats and cracked corn? I want mama to have what she needs and most of all chicks. I have never had a hen raise her own chicks so i need all the help i can get. Thanks in advance for any help

Regular NON medicated chick starter i what you should feed mama and babies, the babies will be toooo young to eat cracked corn and that other stuff you mentioned. Do the switch at night, she is less likely to catch on to what you are doing. After she has accepted the chicks I'd move them to a safe location so she can raise them without the others picking on her or the chicksn just for the first week or so then I usually turn em loose with the flock.

I have her in a crate in the chicken coop enough room for her and babies.
