All of the sudden I started to notice wet spots in my nest boxes, at first I just thought a hen was having a "wet lay"(wife and I had a good laugh over that!). I did not know if a wet lay was even a thing but that's what I thought was happening.
I was waiting for a hen to go broody to raise some chicks so I put some fake eggs into the nest boxes. It was the fake eggs that tipped me off to the fact that someone was eating eggs, there was yolk on the white fake eggs so it was obvious that someone was eating eggs.
A while back I had not been able to get my normal feed so I bought something else from TS and started feeding that. When the 50lb bag of the new stuff was gone I returned to my original feed and the egg eating has stopped.
Was this just coincidence or can the choice of feed contribute to egg eating?
