switching from ground waterer to hanging nipple water

Do they generally put up a fuss about the switch? any advice on how to do it?

I was told that when you switch, push the nipple in so that water comes out so that they can see. Put it close to where their old waterer was, they should figure it out.

When I introduced the nipple waterer, I just "pecked" at it with my finger and they took right to it.

My girls took to the nipples within 5 minutes after they came out of the shipping box.....they were 4 weeks old......so smart!!

Are you using the vertical or horizontal nipples? If you didn't buy them yet I would go with the horizontal, they work better IMO.

Same with my girls. Showed one of them by flicking the nipple in front of them. After one caught on the rest followed. I also like the horizontal nipples.

Especially if you have freezing weather you want the horizontal nipples. However, my chicks had a difficult time with the horizontal nipples at first. I ended up getting the vertical ones and using those for a few weeks, then trying the horizontal ones again and they picked them up in about 10 minutes. Having to get both was a bit of a pain but the vertical ones were right at TSC so that made it easier.
