is this a good idea, i have them on a simple medicated feed now...i didnt want to do it but was talked into it because i didnt want any to get sick and die. but now im wishing i stuck to my guns. can i switch them now?

Yes you can. They'll eat whatever chick feed you give them. Personally I do think the medicated feed is a good thing and I feed my chicks medicated up until they switch to layer. It's really a personal decision and you won't go wrong either way.

Yes you can switch them to organic chick starter- that is what I feed now too. If you don't want to waste your medicated starter you can mix it in and get rid of it that way.

The organic chick starters are not all equal, either. If I buy from one store, they have flaxseed meal in it and it is a bit rancid-smelling. Another feed store near me sells another brand and it smells heavenly- fresh and edible.

The rancid-smelling brand has great organic layer pellets though.
