I am going to let my broody hatch fertile eggs this time around. She has been sitting on three wooden eggs for a few days now. I would like to change them out for four fertile eggs.
Are there any tips or tricks to the process?

I'd just do it at night, same as if you were going to give her chicks. I've swapped eggs in broad daylight and they don't care. I've even given eggs to a hen who had none. All I had to do was set them in front of her and she rolled them under, simple as that. Still, doing it at night might be easier and more likely to work, if you don't know how she'll handle it. Or just wait till she gets off the nest for her daily eating and drinking and switch them then, that's probably even easier and less risk of you getting pecked!

Mission accomplished.

I did it while she was off the nest this morning. When she came back she did not seem concerned that her three (wooden) eggs had turned into four (fertile) eggs. I guess chicken math skills worked to my advantage today.

At the moment she is looking like the definition of a Happy Chicken.
