Swollen and hard navel?

My broody just hatched out chicks for the first time yesterday, and a moment ago I discovered one with a very swollen, hard, and dark colored naval area. She also hasn't come out from under mom yet, when the others have. She is just a few hours old, but all dry and fluffy.
I couldn't get a pic, mom was getting upset. I might be able to get one later.

The navel is closed, if thats what you mean. I'll try and get a pic now.

Ok. I just was wondering if you were seeing really dried up yolk or something, but it doesn't sound like that.

No, I don't think its yolk.
It's hard to explain without pics, but its like the belly itself is swollen.

That's strange. Can you see much of the belly? Is the belly green?

I saw it for a second. No, I don't think it was green- but definitely discolored.

Ok. I just wanted to rule out Omphalitis.

It looks scabby to me, like it didn't finish absorbing all the way before it hatched and a small scab formed. The chick
looks healthy so I think it'll be fine, but keep an eye on it. I'm not sure that there's really anything you can do for it.
