Hen is almost a year old.
I noticed her limping this evening.
The bottom of her foot (where the toes connect) is hard and swollen and warm to the touch. There is a softer blister coming up between her toes (the size of a small peanut). I looked for a puncture wound and there is a dot. I can't tell if it's a spot of mud or a pucture wound. She threw a fit when I poked around at it. (And then the roo came over to protect his woman so I backed off!)
Should I start her on antibiotics?
Should I bring her in the house or isolate her (knowing that this will likely cause her stress)?
Should I soak her foot? The heat would indicate that it is infected. I don't have any epsom salts, but I have peroxide and/or warm water.
Neosporin on it? If she pecks at it will ingesting the neosporin hurt her?
Anything else I should try?
Thanks!
