Thanks all. Spoken to the out of hours vet. Due to lock down she has suggested to not travel to her practise as it’s further away than normal and definitely thinks it’s some sort of respiratory disease so has suggested antibiotics, however the ones so we can still eat the eggs, they don’t stock so is attempting to get me some from elsewhere so I’ll have to wait for her call back now.
I may take one of them to my normal vet on Monday and get her tested as I’m aware that if it’s one of the bad diseases, they could have it for life, a bit like the herpesvirus in humans.
Background of my flock;
We had 3 hens from egg from a school project. We were upgrading the coop and adding an automatic timer on the door when it didn’t close properly one night and the next morning I find a lot of feathers and only 1 hen left
We got 3 more from a reputable poultry farm. He said they’d been vaccinated and I didn’t need to quarantine before adding them into my coop. I’m a first time chicken keeper so have stupidly believed him and nearly 2 weeks later, my whole flock is ill
I should’ve gone with my gut and quarantined the news ones first. Lesson learned for future
