Swollen eye

My daughter found our hens eye quite swollen this am. She is moving around fine and is blinking. She is obviously seeing out of it. I think she may have scratched it on something last night. Should I do anything with it or just let it heal on it’s own??

The swelling and bubbles are an indication of a respiratory disease, most likely Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG.)
Have you noticed any other symptoms such as wheezing, sneezing, head shaking, rales in your hen or any other birds? Have you introduced new birds into your flock?

We had one like that. She was acting really slow for a few days but then she got better and she's never had it since.

She is acting fine. I probably wouldn't have noticed it, other than my daughter saw it. There are no new introductions - no changes in anything. She was fine last night and we just noticed it this am. It is REALLY hot here tho.... I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

Try liberally flushing the eye with saline solution, gently pat dry and then put a tiny bit of Terramycin eye ointment in her eye. The ointment will melt in her eye. Then apply it for several more days and observe her.
