Songster
it never fails- something goes awry before leaving for vacation.
All of a sudden my 4 year old hen has a swollen eye. I’ve dealt with several of swollen eyes in the past which were most often caused by a tick bite, but I never found a tick on her.
She’s acting normal. No discharge from nose, no smell from head, etc.
We do have 4 beehives on our property and I noticed the start of a hornet nest in their run. Is it possible she was stung? Idk how to tell- does her sinus look swollen?
It seems like MG is often suggested as a culprit… but I have a closed flock and no one else is sick.
Currently I’m flushing with saline 2x a day and using terrymcin ointment. This is day 2 and it looks worse than yesterday.
Should I treat just her for MG? I’m leaving for a long weekend tomorrow evening.
